SOUTH EASTON, MASS. -- The Northeast-10 Conference released its 2009-2010 women's tennis All-Conference teams this morning. Junior Erika Sartor (Andover, Mass.) was selected as the No. 2 singles player for the Third Team, and Alexandra Lawrence (N. Scituate, R.I.) made the All-Rookie Team.
Sartor had a strong season as a junior, going 7-2 overall in singles and 6-5 in doubles. She went 5-2 in the No. 2 singles position before taking over the No. 1 role to finish out the season, 3-0. She picked up the Hawks' only win on April 18 against the second-place Stonehill Skyhawks, winning her No. 1 singles match 7-5, 6-2. In doubles, she went 5-4 this season with doubles-partner Ginny Dalrymple (Surry, Maine) at the No. 1 position. She picked up a win in No. 2 doubles with Mary Mindek (Willington, Conn.) on April 13, and lost to Stonehill in No. 1 doubles with Lawrence in the NE-10 Quarterfinals.
Alexandra Lawrence made a great first impression in her rookie season with the Hawks, leading the Hawks in singles wins with a 9-3 record in the top three positions, and posted a doubles record of 5-8. She spent a majority of the season in the No. 3 singles spot, where she went 6-1, losing only to the undefeated Southern New Hampshire Penmen. She also had some opportunities to move up, going 1-1 at No. 1 and 2-2 at No. 2. She and Alyssa Marciniak (Cumberland, R.I.), who played together at Mount St. Charles Academy prior to attending Saint Anselm, went 4-7 together, taking two losses in the No. 1 spot and going 4-5 at No. 2. Additionally, she went 1-1 in the No. 1 position without her, winning with Dalrymple and losing in the NE-10 Quarterfinals with Sartor. She was named NE-10 Freshman of the Week on April 6, after going 2-0 against Pace.
