Meehan named NEWHA Player of the Week

MANCHESTER, N.H. – Junior Katy Meehan (Quincy, Mass.) of the Saint Anselm College women's ice hockey team earned the first New England Women's Hockey Alliance (NEWHA) Player of the Week honor of the 2019-20 season, as announced on Tuesday.

Meehan helped guide the Hawks to a 2-0 start on the opening weekend against Post University, tallying two goals and four assists. Meehan garnered the fourth Player of the Week honor of her career.

On Friday, Meehan had a part in four of the Hawks six goals en route to a 6-1 victory over Post. Meehan scored the first goal of the season at 11:22 of the first period and then assisted on the next three goals. Meehan followed up her Friday performance with a goal and an assist in Saturday's 5-1 win over Post. Meehan currently leads the team in assists with four and points with six.

In her career, Meehan has played in 58 games with 32 goals and 37 assists for 69 points (32-37=69). She has also posted seven career game-winning goals.

Meehan and the Hawks host Sacred Heart on Friday, Oct. 18 at Sullivan Arena with a 7 p.m. matchup.
