MANCHESTER, N.H. – The Saint Anselm College men's soccer team fell by a 2-0 score to second-ranked Adelphi University on Saturday morning at Melucci Field.
The Hawks drop to 6-8 on the year while ending the day with a 2-8 record against Northeast-10 Conference opponents. The Panthers keep their undefeated season going, improving to 13-0-1 overall and to 8-0-1 against NE10 opponents.
Adelphi scored the first goal of the game only nine minutes in as Joseph Thomann found the back of the net off a scrum in the box.
The Hawks nearly equalized in the 34th minute when freshman Jackson Bukunt (Upton, Mass.) sent a shot towards the Panthers' net but was denied by Adelphi's goalkeeper, Matt Apicella.
In the second half, George Yusuff secured the win for the Panthers only 14 minutes into the second stanza. Aidan Keenan sent a cross over the defensive line for Yusuff to collect and score for a 2-0 lead.
The visitors finished the day with a 16-11 shots advantage. Senior Jacob Rostkowski (Rockport, Mass.) recorded 10 saves to eclipse 150 across his Hawks career, yielding two goals. Apicella stopped only two shots for the Panthers in the victory.
The Hawks will travel to their Queen City rival Southern New Hampshire on Tuesday, Oct. 29 at 7 p.m.
