SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Saint Anselm College men's soccer team fell to Le Moyne College, 1-0, on Tuesday afternoon.
The Hawks fall to 6-7 on the year and 2-7 against Northeast-10 Conference foes. Le Moyne moves to 7-4-1 overall and 4-3-1 within the conference.
Le Moyne struck first in the 17th minute as Goran Naric scored and gave the Dolphins an early 1-0 lead off a give-and-go play.
Senior goalkeeper Jacob Rostkowski (Rockport, Mass.) came up with a crucial save in the 22nd minute after Noah Moothedan fired a hard shot towards Rostkowski but the Hawks goalkeeper made a diving save.
Later in the first half, sophomore Michael Budrewicz (Uccle, Belgium) had one of the Hawks best scoring chances. He collected a cross on the left side of the box and sent a sailing shot just over the right crossbar.
Despite not finding the back of the net, the Hawks led shots in the second half, 4-3. Rostkowski collected four saves against the Le Moyne attack, picking up the loss between the posts. Josh Mahr made two saves for the Dolphins, earning the shutout victory. Le Moyne finished the match with a 11-5 shots advantage.
Saint Anselm returns back to the Hilltop on Saturday, Oct. 26 for an 11 a.m. matchup against second-ranked Adelphi.
