CICERO, N.Y. – The Saint Anselm College men's golf team completed the first day of action in 14th place out of 15 teams at the Le Moyne Fall Invitational on Friday.
The Hawks earned a team score of 36-over 324. Saint Anselm will conclude its fall season on Saturday, Oct. 19 with a shotgun start at 9 a.m.
Sophomore James Henry (Reading, Mass.) posted a team-low seven-over 79, finishing in a tie for 52nd. Henry began his round five-over through his first five holes but then battled back to earn four straight pars to close the front nine with a five-over 41. He responded on the back nine, carding seven pars and two bogeys for a two-over 38.
In his first start of the season, sophomore Cole English (Merrimac, Mass.) finished in a tie for 59th with a eight-over 80. English carded a six-over 42 on the front nine and then improved by four strokes on the back nine to earn a two-over 38.
Tying for 70th place, sophomore Peter Hudner (Canton, Mass.) came into the clubhouse with a 10-over 82 on Friday. Hudner recorded back-to-back five-over 41's on each nine.
Laval University holds the day one lead with a five-over 293. Le Moyne College's Ryan Johnson ended the opening round in the lead after recording a four-under 68.
