Men’s golf opens Bowdoin Invitational in 11th place

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Saint Anselm College men's golf team opened its 2019-20 season in 11th place out of 15 teams on the first day of the Bowdoin Invitational on Saturday.

Day One Results

As a team, the Hawks carded a combined team score of 333 (+45). The Hawks will return to the Brunswick Golf Club on Sunday with the first Hawks tee time at 11:10 a.m. for the final day of competition.

Sophomore Will Strauss (Duxbury, Mass.) led the team with an 8-over 80, tying for 18th place. He finished his front nine with a three-over 38 including four pars on the final four holes. Strauss struggled on the back nine and carded a five-over 42. 

In his first collegiate start, freshman Drew Semons (Danvers, Mass.) posted an 11-over 83 which put him in a tie for 33rd. Semons carded two birdies in his front nine to round out a three-over 38. He finished with a 45 on the back nine. 

Finishing the first day in a tie for 38th, sophomore James Henry (Reading, Mass.) shot a 12-over 84. Henry recorded pars on seven of the first nine holes which helped him to shoot a two-over 37, a team-low. Henry ended his round with a back-nine score of 47. 

Sophomore duo Cole English (Merrimac, Mass.) and Jared Carr (Milton, Mass.) rounded out the field for the Hawks, shooting an 86 and 89, respectively.
