MANSFIELD, Mass. – Senior linebacker Eric Mercer of the Saint Anselm College football team earned All-League honors from the Northeast-10 Conference on Tuesday. Mercer was named Second Team All-Conference on defense after an outstanding senior campaign for the Hawks.
As a senior, Mercer posted 34 solo and 43 assisted tackles to rank fourth in the NE10 in total tackles (77). Averaging 7.7 tackles per game to rank fifth in the league, Mercer forced and recovered a fumble in his team's 35-34 victory over Pace on Oct. 21. He racked up 13 tackles at American International on Sept. 30, equaling a career-high.
Mercer exits a four-year career with 270 tackles, ranking 30th among active NCAA Division II student-athletes in takedowns. His 148 career assisted tackles are the 21st most in Division II and 74th nationally when compared to football players across all divisions. He finishes with the fourth-most career tackles of any Saint Anselm student-athlete since the program's modern-day inception in 1999.
An All-Rookie team selection at linebacker in 2014, Mercer is a business major on the Hilltop and has earned Dean's List and NE10 Commissioner's Honor Roll status for his performance in the classroom.
