Conteh Jr. Snatches Northeast-10 Special Teams Player of the Week Honors

MANSFIELD, Mass. – Freshman DB Issa Conteh Jr. (Bowie, Md.) of the Saint Anselm College football team was named the Northeast-10 Special Teams Player of the Week for the period ending Oct. 11, the league office announced Monday afternoon.

Trailing 13-7 at the 10:34 mark of the third quarter in an eventual 19-14 loss at Bentley University, the Hawks went back on top as sophomore LB Eric Mercer (Melrose, Mass.) blocked a punt from the Bentley 15-yard line and the ball came right down into the waiting arms of Conteh Jr. on the left side of the end zone for the touchdown. Conteh Jr.'s blocked punt return touchdown was the first in program history.

Conteh Jr. and the Hawks return to action Saturday, Oct. 17 at 1 p.m. when they take on Merrimack College. Saint Anselm is back home Saturday, Oct. 24 at noon when it plays host to Southern Connecticut State University at Grappone Stadium.
