Cape Cod, Mass. (January 5) -- Saint Anselm freshman quarterback Marc Wilson (Farmington, Conn.) was named as the 2008 ECAC Division II Rookie of the Year, as announced by the league on Monday afternoon.
Wilson, the Northeast-10 Conference Freshman of the Year, was a two-time Northeast-10 Player and Freshman of the Week this past season. He set Saint Anselm single-game records for rushing attempts (36) and rushing yards (285), as well the single-season rushing record at 1,214 yards. Led by Wilson's performance, the Hawks set nearly every team offensive record as well under first-year head coach Patrick Murphy.
Wilson helped the Hawks to a 2-8 record with road wins over Merrimack and Pace. In the game vs. Pace, Wilson put up his record-setting 285-yard performance in a 28-14 road win over the Setters.
