Marty Morrissey is in his first season as an assistant coach for the Saint Anselm College men's and women's tennis teams in 2017-18.
Morrissey, who has eight years of experience as a collegiate head coach, came to Saint Anselm following a four-year stint leading the men's and women's program at fellow Northeast-10 Conference member Franklin Pierce University from 2012-16. At Franklin Pierce, he led the 2015-16 men's team to the program's most wins (6) since the 2003-04 campaign and the women's team's four wins in his first season were the most since at least 2007-08.
Before arriving at Franklin Pierce, Morrissey spent three seasons as the head coach for both men's and women's tennis at Lesley University. Over the three seasons, he led the men to a share of the 2011 New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) title and earned NECC Coach of the Year honors in his first season of 2010, while the women were NECC semifinalists in 2011. Under Morrissey's guidance, nine Lynx were named All-NECC selections, six were All-NECC Honorable Mention picks and three were tabbed NECC Academic All-Conference selections.
Morrissey was the head men's tennis coach at Wheelock College, also a member of the NECC, for one season prior to his time at Lesley.
A 2008 graduate of the University of New Hampshire with a bachelor's degree in philosophy, Morrissey played two years of tennis for the Wildcats, primarily at No. 2 singles and No. 1 doubles, before men's tennis was eliminated as a varsity sport after his sophomore year. He also has experience as a teaching pro at both Jasper Valley Swim and Tennis Club of Amherst and the Hampshire Hills Sports and Fitness Club in Milford.
