Saint Anselm senior linebacker Dan Bohenek (Bridgewater, Mass.) and sophomore Amy Zappen (Huntington Beach, Calif.) have been named as the Saint Anselm Male and Female Athletes of the Week for the week ending November 8, 2009.
Bohenek tallied 10 tackles, all of them solo, to lead the Hawk defense in his final game wearing the Blue and White. He ends the season with a Saint Anselm single-season record 114 total tackles, ranking him in the top five in the nation in tackles per game. For his career, he has 283 total stops, second on the Saint Anselm all-time list. He also has 183 solo stops, which is a Saint Anselm career record.
Zappen was named as the ECAC East Goalie of the Week for the first time in her career. She made 16 saves in the Hawks' season opener to lead the team to a 7-0 shutout victory over the Saint Michael's Purple Knights. The shutout was the third of her career, after getting two shutouts last season in 10 appearances as a freshman.
