Conley races to Second Team honors at NE10 Championship

WESTFIELD, Mass. – Senior Shannon Conley of the Saint Anselm College women's cross country team captured an eighth place finish at Sunday's Northeast-10 Conference Women's Cross Country Championship, helping her team earn a ninth place team finish in the process.

Results 

The Hawks recorded their best team finish at the league race since the 2010 season in which the squad tied for eighth place in the 16-team field. Conley, who recorded a 6K time of 22:21.72, was awarded Second Team All-Conference honors after being named to the Third Team in 2014 as a freshman.

Conley recorded the highest individual finish for a Saint Anselm runner at the NE10 Championships since Alexis Stenzel '05 completed the 2003 race in third place. She also stands as the first Hawks female cross country runner to win All-Conference honors multiple times since Caitlin Lenehan '04 accomplished the feat in 2002 and 2003.

Junior Liberty Gendron, who led the Hawks at last year's Northeast-10 Championship, improved her finish considerably after placing 37th with a time of 23:28.29. Senior Sarah Panteleos crossed the line in 68th place (24:26.09), followed by freshman Gabrielle Dionne and her time of 25:33.30.

Senior Kelsie Nern ran a 25:38.44 to place 92nd and junior Anna Barrell was three spots behind, clocking in at 25:53.28. Sophomore Maquila Dimastrantonio, competing in her first race of the year for Saint Anselm, came in 99th (26:06.68) and sophomore Amanda Pageau sprinted home in 26:53.86.

Freshman Lian Smithers and classmate Emily Ryan finished with times of 27:55.02 and 27:57.73, respectively, and senior Jackie Brennan rounded out the Saint Anselm representation with a time of 29:36.37.

Stonehill captured first place as a team, edging Assumption by only two points. Stonehill's Emily Knox was the overall victor with a finish of 21:37.02, defeating Assumption's Antonia Pagliuca by just under 12 seconds.

Saint Anselm will compete at the NCAA Division II Eastern Regionals on Saturday, Nov. 4 at the Audubon Golf Course in Amherst, N.Y. The race will begin at 11 a.m.
