Cross Country's Conley captures third at Smith Invite

NORTHAMPTON, Mass. – Senior Shannon Conley captured third place individually while representing the Saint Anselm College women's cross country team at the 5K Smith Co-Ed Cross Country Invitational on Saturday.

Saint Anselm placed fourth out of nine schools, notching 115 total race points and finishing only two points ahead of the host Pioneers from Smith College. The Hawks head to Kutztown, Pa. this Saturday, Sept. 16 for the NCAA Division II/III Challenge, hosted by Kutztown University, starting at 10:45 a.m.

Conley's time of 19:38.40 trailed the race's leader by just under 25 seconds. Liberty Gendron finished within the top 20 for Saint Anselm, navigating the course in 20:45.83. Sarah Panteleos turned in a 24th place finish (21:24.29) while Kelsie Nern crossed the line in 31st place (21:58.49).

Freshman Lian Smithers recorded a time of 23:10.15, placing 59th in the crowded field. Gabrielle Dionne, Amanda Pageau and Jackie Brennan rounded out the field of Saint Anselm harriers.
