EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. – The Saint Anselm College volleyball team ran its program-record winning streak to start a season to five matches by sweeping West Liberty before falling to host East Stroudsburg in three sets on Saturday at Koehler Fieldhouse.

Saint Anselm (5-1) started the day by topping West Liberty (6-2) by a 25-19, 30-28, 25-22 score. The win continued the Hawks' unblemished start to the season as it was the team's fifth-straight sweep to begin 2016.
The five-match winning streak was the program's longest since the Hawks won six matches in a row from Sept. 10-21, 2004. The five-straight sweeps was a first in program history for Saint Anselm, surpassing the previous high of three.
Amanda Bickford hammered a match and career-high 11 kills for her first-career double-digit kill performance. Madison Sollows tallied nine kills without an error for a .529 attack percentage, while fellow freshman Catherine McCarthy posted eight kills.
CC Chrisom's 19 digs led all players in the match and were also a season-high for the senior. Lowery was the third Hawk in double figures in digs, joining Hays with 10.
Mackenzie Sims was West Liberty's lone player to reach double-digit kills, finishing with 10 and a .409 attack percentage. Miranda Garmenn handed out 20 assists and hit five of the Hilltoppers' 10 aces, while Stephanie Leonard and Kailee Cunningham each made 11 digs.
After hitting .227 in the opening set, Saint Anselm improved to .240 in the second and .306 in the third to finish at .254 for the match. On the other side of the net, West Liberty hit at a .174 clip in the match.
East Stroudsburg 3, Saint Anselm 0 | Box
East Stroudsburg (5-3) outhit Saint Anselm .241 to -.029 in the second match of the day to halt the Hawks' five-match winning streak. After a close first set, the Warriors heated up to hit .413 over the final two sets in a 25-23, 25-10, 25-13 win for the hosts.
Williams' six kills led the Hawks, while Lowery and Katy Teets each had four. Chrisom had a team-best seven digs.
Sarah Smith totaled a match-high nine kills and hit .375 for East Stroudsburg. Tina Predojevic contributed across the board with seven kills, 13 assists, seven digs and three block assists for the Warriors. Abby Moore made 15 digs in the backline for the hosts.
Saint Anselm's next match is at Southern New Hampshire University on Tuesday, Sept. 13 at 7 p.m.
