MANCHESTER, N.H. – The Saint Anselm College women's tennis team secured a 6-3 victory over visiting Saint Michael's College on Tuesday at the South Tennis Courts.
Saint Anselm improves to 4-4 overall on the season while moving to 3-4 against Northeast-10 Conference competition. Saint Michael's dips to 4-6 overall and to 3-5 against league opponents.
The Hawks captured a 2-1 lead following doubles play as senior Jess Perkins and sophomore Kaitlin Hughes won their No. 1 doubles match, 8-4, while the tandem of junior Tess Malerbi and senior Meghan Golden were victorious at No. 2 doubles by the same margin.
Saint Anselm swept the first three flights of singles play as Perkins easily dispatched her No. 1 singles opponent, 6-0, 6-0. Malerbi and Hughes picked up quick victories at No. 2 and No. 3 singles, respectively, while senior Meghan Golden narrowly lost a No. 3 singles match, 7-6 (7-5), 1-6 and 10-3.
Freshman Maikah Bulpitt rounded out the Hawks wins, securing a 7-5, 6-4 decision at No. 6 singles.
The Hawks return to action this Friday, Oct. 6, taking on Bentley in a 2 p.m. showdown at the South Tennis Courts.
