PREVIEW: Women’s Basketball returns to NE10 Tournament Sunday

MANCHESTER, N.H. – The Saint Anselm College women's basketball team returns to the Northeast-10 Conference Tournament on Sunday afternoon when they travel to American International College for an NE10 Quarterfinal matchup against the Yellow Jackets at 3 p.m.

Making the trip? Tickets are $8 for general admission with tickets for seniors and children $5 and students with ID costing only $1.


HOW THEY GOT HERE
Saint Anselm finished the regular season at 18-9 overall and 13-8 in the NE10 to earn the No. 3 seed in the Northeast Division. The Hawks enter the postseason having won 11-of-15 games since the start of 2017, including 3-of-4 games to finish the year.

AIC has been just as good down the stretch, winning seven of their last eight games including a 54-51 victory over #10 Adelphi in their final regular season game of the year. The Yellow Jackets posted a 19-9 record this year that included a 14-6 mark in NE10 games to earn the No. 2 seed in the Southwest Division.


HAWKS VS. YELLOW JACKETS SERIES HISTORY
Saint Anselm and AIC are meeting for the 65th time in program history with the series tied at 32-32. This is the sixth time the two teams are meeting in the NE10 postseason, and the Hawks hold a slight 3-2 edge in the series.

In their last meeting, Candace Andrews knocked down the go-ahead jumper with 4.2 seconds remaining in regulation to lead the Hawks to a 54-53 win over AIC back on Jan. 18, 2017. Andrews finished the game with 18 points, four rebounds, eight assists and four steals, while Caitlyn Abela joined her in double-figures with 13 points. Erin Waters nearly had a double-double with nine points and eight rebounds as well.
