MANSFIELD, Mass. – Freshman pitcher Arika Brochu of the Saint Anselm College softball team was named the Northeast-10 Rookie of the Week on Monday morning as the conference announced its weekly awards.
Brochu posted a 3.03 ERA in six appearances, including five starts, for Saint Anselm last week and tossed 30.0 innings. The freshman allowed just two hits in five shutout innings to pick up the win in a 2-0 victory over Notre Dame College on Tuesday as part of a combined three-hit shutout. She also earned a win with four innings of one-hit ball during a 10-4 win over Georgian Court earlier in the day.
For the season, Brochu is 3-4 with a 2.84 ERA in seven appearances, which includes six starts. Her three wins are tied for second-most in the NE-10 this season.
After returning from a 12-game Florida trip to start the season, Saint Anselm has two weeks off before opening conference play with a doubleheader at American International on Saturday, March 19. The twinbill begins at noon.
