Stankiewicz tabbed to lead men's and women's cross country

MANCHESTER, N.H. – The Saint Anselm College athletic department announced the addition of Brian Stankiewicz as the interim head coach of the men's and women's cross country programs on Thursday.

"Courtney McGrath and I had conversations with several candidates for this position," said Director of Athletics Daron Montgomery. "In the end, it became clear that the best fit at this moment in time was Brian. We look forward to his leadership for the upcoming season. He brings unmatched energy and enthusiasm for cross country and the Hawks Athletics program."

Stankiewicz graduated from Saint Anselm this past spring with a degree in accounting and was a member of the men's cross country team for each of his four years on the Hilltop. He was a team captain as both a junior and senior and ran in 24 races for the Hawks over his four-year career.

"I am excited for the opportunity to coach the program I have been part of for the last four years," Stankiewicz said. "I want to thank Dr. DiSalvo, Daron Montgomery and the rest of the athletic administration for giving me this chance. I am looking forward to a fun and competitive season."

Stankiewicz earned Dean's List and NE10 Commissioner's Honor Roll recognition in all eight of his semesters on the Hilltop. He also served on the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and took an active leadership role as a class senator for Saint Anselm student government.

"The entire athletics administration gives Brian our full support during preseason and this fall as the student-athletes return to the Hilltop in just a few days," added McGrath, who serves as the sport supervisor for both cross country programs.
