MANCHESTER, N.H. – Using a lineup consisting entirely of seniors, the Saint Anselm College men's tennis team topped Saint Michael's College, 6-3, on its Senior Day on Tuesday afternoon at the Carr Center in Northeast-10 Conference play.
On a day when all six seniors tallied at least one match win, Adam Weinstein and Kyle Harris were each victorious in both singles and doubles for Saint Anselm (2-13, 1-7 NE10), which defeated Saint Michael's (0-8, 0-7 NE10) for the fourth-straight season. The Hawks took a 2-1 lead into singles play after wins at the top-two doubles spots and picked up four singles victories to see out the win.
In doubles, Saint Michael's got an 8-3 victory at No. 3 doubles to take a 1-0 lead, but Saint Anselm responded by claiming the No. 1 and No. 2 doubles matches to enter singles with the advantage. Weinstein and Brian Kavanagh put together an 8-2 victory at No. 2 doubles before Eric Howes and Kyle Harris secured an 8-3 win at No. 1 doubles.
The Hawks extended their lead to 4-1 when Page and Weinstein raced to victories in the first two singles matches to conclude. Playing at No. 4 singles for the first time this season, Page topped Max Allen by a 6-1, 6-3 score for his team-high ninth victory of the season. Weinstein did not lose a game against Jake Remillard at No. 2 singles, sealing his Senior Day victory with an ace.
After the Purple Knights put a point on the board at No. 1 singles, Harris clinched the match for the Hawks, edging Cam Maher in a tight match at No. 5 singles, 6-4, 7-6 (7-3), giving Harris back-to-back singles wins. Dan Foley gave Saint Michael's its second three-set singles win of the afternoon at No. 3 singles, before Pearson took down Colby Antonacci, 6-3, 7-5, in the senior's first singles match of the season.
