SOUTH EASTON, Mass. – Senior Andrew Parker (East Haddam, Conn.) of the Saint Anselm College men's soccer team was named to the Northeast-10 Men's Soccer Academic All-Conference Team, the Northeast-10 Conference announced Friday.
Parker, named captain of the men's soccer team by Head Coach Peter Ramsey prior to the season, has made 73 total appearances for the Hawks during his four-year career. The defenseman has logged 6,539 minutes of playing time across four seasons, the highest totals by a Saint Anselm player in recorded history. He was the only player in this year's graduating class to have started each and every single game, 71 in total, for the Hawks since joining the team as a freshman in 2008. Parker has also earned Northeast-10 Conference All-Rookie team honors as a freshman.
Off the pitch, Parker has maintained a 3.5 grade-point average in the classroom while also serving as the chairman of Saint Anselm's student-athlete advisory council (SAAC). Parker has lent his assistance to several community initiatives on campus, including the "Hocus Pocus" Halloween fundraiser in addition to a food basket drive held at Thanksgiving. Currently, Parker is performing an internship with the Saint Anselm College athletic department as he has aspirations of becoming a soccer coach in the future.
To be eligible for selection to the academic all-conference teams, a student-athlete must have met and /or exceeded the following minimum requirements: 1) participated in at least half of the team's competitions and be either a starter or significant contributor; 2) achieved a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale); and 3) completed at least one academic year at his/her current institution. The Northeast-10 Academic All-Conference teams are chosen by a vote of a committee of athletic administrators and Faculty Athletic Representatives (FAR).
