Men’s Skiing Competes At Crotched

BENNINGTON, N.Y. - The Saint Anselm College men's skiing team placed fifth overall in slalom action on Saturday and concluded the second day of the Saint Anselm College Carnival by placing fourth in the eight team field this past weekend.  The Hawks rank sixth in the MacConnell Division with 33 points, trailing fourth place Babson College by only six points.

Freshman Eric Brandolini (Georges Mills, N.H.) led the way on Saturday with a combined time of 1:44.64, ranking 15th overall in the 62 person qualifying field.  Ben Roy (Belgrade, Maine) finished within the top-20 skiers, completing his first run in only 51.10 seconds to finish with a combined time of 1:45.31.  Team Captain Sam Bensley (Newburyport, Mass.) wrapped up his Saturday runs with a combined time of 1:49.07 to place him 27th overall and third on the Hawks.

Chris Switzer (Wilton, Conn.) placed 48th amongst the field with a combined time of 2:01.58 while Joe Germaine (North Attleboro, Mass.) completed his runs with a time of 2:08.85.  Rounding out the field for the Hawks was Chris Genter, placing in 57th place with a time of 2:13.84.

On Sunday, Roy posted the fastest time amongst Hawks participants, completing his first run in 52.24 seconds alongside a second run time of 51.87 seconds for a two-run time of 1:44.11 to place him 11th in the field.  Brandolini was not far behind, placing 14th overall with a combined time of 1:44.41.  Bensley placed 24th with a time of 1:47.11 to finish within the top-25 participants.

Germaine dramatically improved his fortunes in the second day of action, finishing 32nd with a time of 1:49.86.  Switzer placed 48th overall, clocking in at 1:57.36 through both runs.  Genter wrapped up his weekend with a time of 2:05.04 to finish 53rd.  Dana Hazeltine (Dover, N.H.) was the last Hawks competitor to finish, besting his first-run time to finish with a combined 2:11.33.
