MANCHESTER, N.H. – Senior Ryan Mee (Medway, Mass.) tallied four points on a goal and three assists, while senior Jake Mallinson (Middletown, R.I.) and junior Geoff Kennedy (Gloucester, Mass.) each added three points, as the Saint Anselm College men's lacrosse team took down Assumption College, 9-5, Saturday afternoon at Multi-Sport Stadium.
The Hawks grab their second straight win to improve to 2-3 on the season, including 1-1 in Northeast-10 play, while the Greyhounds drop to 3-4, 0-3 NE-10.
Kennedy gave Saint Anselm a 2-0 lead to open the game with a pair of goals in the first 5:21 of the first quarter. Mee and senior Sam MacDonald (Hopkinton, Mass.) assisted on the first two tallies of the game. Mallinson potted one of his own to make it 3-0, before Kennedy connected with Mee to take the 4-0 lead at 11:25 of the second quarter.
Assumption came back to tie the game, 4-4, at 9:01 of the third. The Hawks went on another 4-0 tear to take the lead, 8-4, with just 4:21 left in the game. Mallinson began the rally, followed by goals from junior James Peters (Medway, Mass.), junior Geoff Kennedy (Gloucester, Mass.) and another from Peters.
A final Assumption goal came with 3:37, before Mee tacked on the final Saint Anselm goal at 1:44 to finalize scoring at 9-5.
Sophomore goalie James O'Neill (East Walpole, Mass.) made 11 saves for the Hawks and picked up seven groundballs. Senior Matthew Steele (Ipswich, Mass.) was 7-for-17 on the faceoff and picked up four groundballs.
Assumption held a 41-30 shot advantage.
