MANSFIELD, Mass. – Freshman forward Alec Andreucci of the Saint Anselm College men's ice hockey was tabbed the Northeast-10 Conference Rookie of the Week for the second-straight week and the third time this season on Monday afternoon.
Andreucci compiled five points on two goals and three assists and was +5 for Saint Anselm in a two-game sweep of Franklin Pierce this past weekend. The Guilford, Conn. product is the first Hawk to be named NE10 Rookie of the Week three times in a season since teammate Shane Joyce did so in the 2014-15 season.
Andreucci had a hand in all four of his team's goals with two goals and two assists for a career-high-tying four points in a 4-0 victory on Friday night in Winchendon, Mass. The next night, he added an assist in a 4-2 win that moved the Hawks into first place in the NE10 standings heading into the final week of conference play.
On the season, Andreucci has eight goals and 14 assists to his credit and is averaging exactly one point per game. He currently leads all NE10 freshmen in goals (8), assists (14) and points (22), while ranking tied for fourth overall in the conference in points. No other NE10 freshman has more than 11 points this season.
His 22 points are the most by an NE10 rookie since Jay Sylvia totaled 28 points for Southern New Hampshire University in 2013-14 and he is just four points from cracking the top-10 list for points in a season by an NE10 freshman.
Saint Anselm begins the final week of the regular season by traveling to Post University for a 7:30 p.m. start on Tuesday, Feb. 13.
