MANSFIELD, Mass. – For the 10th time in his career, senior goaltender Shane Joyce of the Saint Anselm College men's ice hockey team was named the Northeast-10 Conference Goaltender of the Week, as the conference announced its first weekly awards of the 2017-18 season on Monday.
In his first start of the season, Joyce saved 25 of the 27 shots he faced for Saint Anselm in a 4-2 victory over NE10 foe and crosstown rival Southern New Hampshire University on Friday evening at Sullivan Arena. Twelve of his 25 stops came in the third period to help the Hawks protect a two-goal lead.
Joyce was a three-time NE10 Goaltender of the Week honoree in each of his first three seasons on the Hilltop. He is also the two-time reigning NE10 Goaltender of the Year and has been an All-NE10 selection in each of his three previous seasons. His 1,531 career saves rank sixth all-time at Saint Anselm.
The Hawks are next in action on Friday, Nov. 17 against Post in a 7 p.m. start at Sullivan Arena as the two teams begin their weekend series.
